Draska Children
The Draska are a doubly displaced people. Having left their original homeland and travelled to the Western continent, the Draska Plague shattered the cohesiveness of their settlement, leaving only adolescents scattered across the land. Some managed to hide their ancestry and blend into society, but most were taken as slaves.
As children, their abilities were often untrained or unknown, so when they blended into society, their giftings were lost.
Some, particularly the healers, eventually developed limited versions of their gifts which only increased their value as slaves and the distain held for them by the rest of the population.
As the war with the Dragon's Realm raged on, all magic users were seen as potential infiltrators from the enemy, increasing the mistreatment of the remaining Draska.
The Draska race was reunited by Trillia, who inherited the Kingdom of Summer from her father after his death during the final battle of the war with the East. Trillia set out to finish the reunification of the scattered children by sending out trained seekers to find them and bring them to her. This put her at odds with the last of the true Draska, who were seeking to reunite their people in Aurora.
Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
Traditional Draska were an agrarian society, deeply connected to the land and the creatures that inhabited it.
Draska Children, however, reject anything related to their heritage. They have built a thriving community focused on personal success. Communicating with animals is seen as a sign of insanity, and there are few animals within their cities, except for cats, who have been interbred with less powerful felines and are kept for their ability to control vermin.
The custom of Draska Bonding has been outlawed within Summer and replaced with traditions intended to genetically enhance the waning Draska magical abilities.
