Early Avanics

4 200 years prior to Avan’s folly and the formation of his empire Avan first took interest in the mortal plane. Avan is when compared to other divines, a young and unremarkable god. He found himself in the heavens surrounded by noble and gracious gods who were loved by mortals and other gods alike. He deeply desired the attention and praise he saw others receive and felt that if he had people to influence he would be able to prove that he was also noble and gracious.

He set his sights on the aforementioned tribal peoples. He began by giving them blessings when they were kind to one another or when they acted in selfless ways. To his immense displeasure, the tribal spiritual leaders would always credit these blessings to nature. Avan’s reaction to this snag details his greatest flaw. Avan killed any and all spiritual leaders who would claim that his blessings came from nature rather than from a gracious god. In doing so Avan showed that his motivation was never to be a noble and gracious god, it was to be perceived as such.

Over the next 2 centuries Avan exerted his influence bluntly convincing tribes to convert and to wage war eradicating any who failed to worship Avan. This continued until Avan felt he had converted a large enough percentage of the population. At this point, the events known as Avon’s Folly began to unfold.
